
Sarah Naarden

Sarah is an architect, place maker and social impact entrepreneur. As a former associate director with Bates Smart, Sarah had the privilege of working as a lead interior architect on the Royal Children’s hospital. She is a panel member of the Victorian Design Review Panel with the Office of Victorian Government Architects.
In 2015, Sarah founded Design Think Lab, a consultancy optimising social impact in the built environment. As part of Closing the Gap in Indigenous health, Sarah created a unique design collaboration and crowd funding process known as the Design Think Tank. In 2014, Sarah was recognized by the Federal government with a Community Service Award for an Aboriginal Healing Garden at Monash Health.
Recently, Sarah has graduated from the University of Melbourne Social Impact Entrepreneur program. Her start up, Hughaus, proposes a rethinking of ageing and social isolation with a prefabricated co-housing solution. Inspired by a Dutch model of aged care, it offers affordable housing for student and families who volunteer care in exchange for their rent.
