Deborah Singerman
Founder and HeadDeborah Singerman Writing Editing and Proofreading Consultancy
Deborah Singerman’s long-time interest in buildings and cities first emerged professionally when she reinvigorated a building products magazine with wider editorial content about the industry and design. To her surprise, it reflected the type of socioeconomic landscape she had studied at the London School of Economies and Political Science for her BSc Economics (Sociology). Extensive travel in Asia and journalism in Hong Kong for numerous cultural, political and humanities publications was furthered in Australia by a Master of Arts Australian Studies including research into Australian architects working in Asia. She was publications manager, journal and technical guide editor at the National Specification System of Australia, and then concept, structural, copy and consulting editor for custom publishers on infrastructure, planning, sustainability and city transformation books. She negotiated the relationship between commercial clients and editorial contributors from research, community, not-for-profit, government, technical and industry fields. Deborah continuously researches, interviews and crafts stories about diverse professionals on practice, design, city and workplace issues for her features, blogs and comments. Her blog, City Chronicler, is at www.deborahsingerman.com.au
