Senior Lecturer and Creative DirectorUniversity of South Australia and School for Creating Change
I have a passion for design education and public engagement - i.e. engaging diverse people in the decisions about place that impact upon their everyday lives. I operate professionally in two roles, as a Senior Lecturer in Architecture & Sustainable Design currently at Uni SA, and independently as the founder and Creative Director of the School for Creating Change. My current design research advocacy work focuses on opportunities to engage refugees and migrants in decisions about public places as a precursor to assisting social inclusion and settlement.
For the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Architects, I delivered a National CPD seminar series on Social Sustainability in 2014, and for AIA I have been on National Sustainability committee, National accreditation panels and chapter Councillor in SA.
Previous research advocacy and practice in public engagement has been with 5000+ (Integrated Design Strategy for Adelaide- National pilot), Child and youth friendly approaches to citymaking, with Indigenous communities in Arnhem Land, design advocacy projects with CALD women in Sydney’s South West and with Youth at risk of homelessness in South Australia. Ive taught in four different Australian universities and studied PhD, M.Phil and degrees in Architecture in Sydney, London and Cambridge UK.
