Christine Phillips

Christine Phillips is a registered architect, educator and writer based within the unceded lands of the Eastern Kulin Nation in Melbourne/Naarm, Australia.

As a co-director of OoPLA with Tania Davidge, her architectural practice focuses on creative ways to engage the public with architecture through public, playful and political projects.

As a Senior Lecturer within RMIT University's Architecture Program, Christine is committed to working towards a reconciled future within Australia's built environment. Christine is developing innovative ways to embed Indigenous perspectives within design education. In 2022, Christine co-founded the Yulendj Weelam Lab in 2022 to connect academics, Indigenous knowledge holders and design practitioners to ensure Australia’s built environment respectfully engages with and supports our First Peoples.

Christine is passionate about Australian architecture and its history and heritage. In 2020, Christine co-authored 'Robin Boyd: Late Works' (URO, Melbourne) with Peter Raisbeck. She regularly reviews contemporary architecture in Australian architectural journals. Christine was also a co-host of RRR’s weekly radio show, ‘The Architects’ from 2010-2015 with Stuart Harrison, Simon Knott and Rory Hyde and was an alternate member of the Heritage Council of Victoria from 2016-2022.
