Design Manager - Infrastructure, Assets, Places.KPMG
I am a Registered Architect with more than 20 years experience in practice. I've spent much of that working in Melbourne, but coincided a trip to London for travel and life experience (and work) with the commencement of the GFC. During this time the intersection between work, life, finances, and the importance of social infrastructure became highly visible to me, as the typical constructs of a functional economy crumbled.
The practice of architecture has often been one of deep love (and deep frustration). The balance changes frequently, and for much of my career, despite the joy of working at such practices as Kerstin Thompson Architects and Lyons, and the rush of a successfully completed project, I've always felt that a career outside of the confines traditional practice, might offer the opportunity to engage more broadly with the built environment.
Architects are blessed with an incredibly broad and valuable set of tools. From design (thinking and practice) to problem solving, tenacity and the often-relentless pursuit for the 'best' outcome for our clients, the community and the environment.
A career divergence to Consulting has gifted me insight and input to the earliest stages of public projects. To solve problems, influence decision making and make change before an Architect is even involved! In short, without my 'Practicing' title, I'm trying to use my skills for the greatest reach.
