Victoria Whenray

Experienced Director

Victoria is an experienced architect, and board director with a demonstrated history of working in architecture and urban design for almost three decades.

Her central belief is that thoughtful design can make a difference to the quality of people’s lives and that successful architecture is a creative blend of poetry and pragmatism.

Largely based in London, Victoria’s career has purposely been broad, having worked across a variety of studios and building typologies including bringing new life to listed buildings, one off object buildings (such as Richard Rogers’ Montevetro) and more recently on neighbourhood scale projects such as the infamous Portobello Road district in Notting Hill.

She joined Conran and Partners in 2010 as an Associate, and following numerous promotions was invited to join the board in 2016. In 2018, Victoria was honoured to be given the title ‘Partner’ by Sir Terence Conran to reflect her practice wide responsibilities and in recognition that she was highly regarded as one of the practice leaders. In this role, Victoria;

- Co-developed and managed the strategic business and creative output of the practice across two studios (London and Hong Kong) in collaboration with fellow board members.

- Strongly influenced the growth of the studio culture, including team career development, and driving policies such as the practice Equality, Diversity & Inclusivity agenda.

- Raised profile of the studio and winning new work.

- Partner lead on architectural and masterplanning / urban regeneration projects.

Outside of her day job, Victoria has retained a voluntary role as non executive Director of the Academy of Urbanism, a highly regarded not-for-profit organisation which brings together practitioners and thinkers to interrogate and celebrate the best in urban design. Until her recent move to Australia Victoria was also a lead assessor for AoU European City of the Year.

A regular contributor to architectural discourse, Victoria enjoys judging, writing, chairing events and taking part in panel discussions. She was featured in the Architecture Today podcast series ‘6 Women who shape the City’.

Following a rewarding career in the UK, Victoria has recently relocated to Australia, to continue the next stage of her professional adventure.
