Michaela Prescott

Dr. Michaela Prescott is a Landscape Architect and Senior Research Fellow and Senior Lecturer at Monash University’s Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture. With expertise in sustainable urban development, participatory urban planning, and co-design, Michaela’s research addresses the urbanisation of water and river systems, the socio-cultural dimensions of landscapes, and the impact of infrastructure on community well-being.
A founding member of the Monash Informal Cities Lab, Michaela works on transformative projects like Revitalising Informal Settlements and their Environments (RISE) and the Citarum Action Research Platform (CARP). She collaborates with community and government partners to foster urban resilience, drawing on her interdisciplinary background working with engineers, planners, hydrologists, public health professionals and biologists.
Michaela’s global experience spans teaching, landscape design, and strategic urban planning in Australia, Singapore, and Europe. Her interests lie in leveraging design and research to create equitable, sustainable cities that integrate environmental and social systems.
