Do you identify as a migrant? Have you migrated to Australia from a non-English-speaking country? Do you identify as a woman? Are you training or working in architecture? If the answer is yes and you live or work in Victoria, team working on the next issue of Architect Victoria want to hear from you!
Migration.Women.Architecture celebrates cultural diversity within Australian architecture and advocate for cross-cultural engagement and knowledge-sharing within the profession. This special issue is edited by Marika Neustupny, Mirjana Lozanovska, Maryam Gusheh with support from Helen Duong and Sonia Sarangi.
The issue will present a double exposure. It will give voice to female migrants with education and training in architecture and, at the same time, introduce significant international architects who may be lesser known to an Australian audience.
Your expression of interest should include the following:
- Introduction to your hometown and educational or professional experience in Australia, and an idea of how you would represent this through image and text.
- Introduction to a significant, lesser-known architect or work of architecture from your country of origin and key work(s) through image and text.
This is the first stage in a larger project by the editors. If you would like to be kept informed about the wider projects, you can add your details to the EOI form too.
Parlour is delighted to support this excellent project. Please help by sending this information on to others who may be interested!
Together, let’s employ architecture as a medium through which to demystify cultural difference and encourage cross cultural interaction.
